Site Map for 2018 AWSA Nationals, Mystic Lakes, Kansas

As we prepare for tomorrows kick-off of the Eastern Regionals, many of us are also looking ahead to our trip to Kansas for Nationals. Here is a site map for Mystic Lakes.  Mystic Lakes Site Map  We hope to see many of you there.
You’ll notice that there are region tents between lake 1 and lake 2. We’ll have a large cooler, chairs, and snacks at the Eastern Region tent. Just look for the Eastern State Flags and the big East Is Beast, Eastern Region feather flag.

Keeping Our Young Folks Safe – Priority #1 – SAFE SPORT TRAINING

Safety is always a priority at any AWSA event. I’m proud of the great care that our safety directors take in preparing a site and looking out for the safety of everyone. There is another important aspect to keeping our junior athletes safe. That is covered in the USA Water Ski and Wake Sports, Safe Sport Program. The program includes two parts, Safe Sport Training and a Background Check. I recommend that all water ski club members take the Safe Sport Training.  In addition, some AWSA positions REQUIRE that you take the Safe Sport Training and in some cases undergo a Criminal Background Screening.
The information in the training is relevant and can be completed in one evening or spread out over a couple of sittings. I knocked it out in a few hours over a cup of coffee.

The following link provides all of the details and directions for accessing the Safe Sport Training.      2018 ALL SD SAFE SPORT PROGRAM 2-13-2018

If you interact with Jr. athletes in Teams, as an Instructor or a leader in Junior Development, you are likely required to comply.  See the chart here.  Safe Sport Compliance Chart v8

2016 EVP Baton Toss

Greetings!

I hope everyone that attended the 2016 Regional Championships at Lake Holly had a blast!  I know I did!

The  new fangled team event brought about some friendly ‘smack’ talk, great competition and brought in skiers that typically wouldn’t have skied in a particular event; or even come to regionals in the first place.  The team event was a success!!!

We had some changing of the guards, with Pat Bryne stepping back into the EVP spot for 2017 and Gary Noll taking Pat’s AWSA Director spot.  Bravo gentlemen.

Check out the following video address (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WblUI2janks) for some general highlights and our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/AWSA.East/) for pictures galore from the Regional Championships.

The video touches on:  EVP change, 2017 regionals, $$, other.

Even though I’ve stepped down as EVP, I will be helping with some of the coordination for the 2017 regionals until December 31st of this year; so if you are interested in helping out contact me so I can get you on the list.

Shout out to TG Powel for a great Jr Development event!  Netting just over $1000 in fundraising cash!!!  Rock on!!!

Also, I attempted to identify and chat with the skiers that had never come to regionals before!   Congrats!  And I hope you enjoyed yourselves!
