Alex Lauretano returned with four gold medals from the 65th Annual
Goode Water Ski National Championship Tournament that concluded
on August 18th in Bakersfield, California. Competing in the Open
Women’s Division, the highest level of competition in the
sport, Alex won the Slalom, Tricks, Jump, and Overall competitions.
In the Slalom competition, Alex cleared 3.5 buoys at 35 feet off
of the 75-foot tow line for a score of 93.5 buoys. In the Trick
Skiing event, Alex scored 6,610 points. She jumped 149 feet to win
the Jump competition. On a cumulative basis, Alex amassed 3,600.1
points to win the prestigious Overall title.
Also of note in the tournament, in the Open Men’s Competition,
Nick Parsons won the Slalom event, Jimmy Siemers won the Trick Skiing
competition, Scott Ellis won the Jump event, and in the cumulative
scoring, Jimmy Siemers won the Overall title.
Alex will now return to Florida to train for the US Open Championship
Tournament at Disney World during September. She will compete in
the collegiate ranks with her team at Florida Southern College during
the Fall season. And, she will finish the year with a trip to Santiago,
Chile for the World Championships at the end of December and early
in January.
