Press Release - Morris Connecticut, February 27, 2006
The official world ranking list was released today by the International
Water Ski Federation. Based on tournament results through October
31, 2005, Alex Lauretano of Morris, Connecticut is ranked Number
1 in the World in the Junior Women's Water Ski Jump event. With
an average score of 145.7 feet, Lauretano finished ahead of her
nearest competitor, Nancy Chardin of France who had an average score
of 143.0 feet.

Lauretano, a native of Morris, Connecticut, is a member of the
U.S. Junior Water Ski Team. She lives and trains in Winter Garden,
Florida and graduated from the prestigious Crenshaw School in Orlando,
Florida in January. She will continue her education as a Freshman
at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida in the Fall and,
as a member of the Florida Southern College Water Ski Team, she
will compete at the collegiate level.
The Number 1 World Ranking for Alex Lauretano culminates a year
in which she had a perfect score for the U.S. Junior Water Ski Team
at the Can Am Games in San Marcos, Texas in September. In that competition
between the United States and Canada, she finished first in the
Jump event, as well as first in Slalom and first in Tricks. Her
perfect score helped the U.S. win the team title at that international
competition. In August, Alex won the Jump competition at the 2005
U.S. National Water Ski Championships at Palm Beach, Florida in
the 18-and-under division.

In addition to her Number 1 World Ranking in the Jump event, Alex
has also achieved rankings of Number 2 in Slalom, Number 3 in Tricks,
and Number 2 Overall on the official world ranking list that was
released today.
Alex is sponsored by MasterCraft Boats, Connelly Skis, and Girls
4 Sport active wear apparel. She is currently preparing for the
2006 tournament season.
