waterskiThe U.S. Team was composed of Brandi Hunt, Ryan Fitts, Susie Lohr, and Mandy
Nightingale. This is the third victorious U.S.Junior Team with an Eastern Region Team
member. Bob Hughes represented us at the Worlds in Columbia in 1993 and Benny Lohr
represented us at Mexico in 1995.
waterskiIndividual event skiers ranked in the top five in the World Standing are also invited,
and Dana Hinman made good use of the trip by capturing the World Jumping title. His
jump of 155 matched the distance of fellow American Terry Winter, but the tie was broken
under international rules with two additional jumps, and Dana's 158 foot jump left no
doubt as to who the world champion would be.
waterskiSusie Lohr placed third in the women's jump event, jumping 124 feet, one foot less than
teammate Brandi Hunt and 7 feet less than New Zealand standout Fiona Nairn. Susie also
placed 4th in the trick skiing event, and fourth overall.
waterskiThe U.S. Team never allowed any other team to threaten their lead. Second place went to
Great Britain and third place was awarded to Italy. France and Australia completed the
top five teams.
waterskiThe East should be proud of their participation in International events. Junior skiers
should strive for U.S. Team participation and for continuing this tradition of
excellence.

international event.
