The International Activities Committee is actively seeking an outstanding site that would be interested in hosting the 2005 CAN AM Challenge on Labor Day 2005. The challenge was actually initiated 15 years ago to provide the juniors and 17-21 yr. olds with a competition event between Canada and the USA on odd years in order to have an event that would help keep our athletics involved each year. We wanted to provide an arena for our developing juniors and college skiers to compete as members of teams under world record conditions on a first class site each year not just in the Pan American Championship's even year.
On alternating years, the USA and Canada would host a two round, world record capability event for one six member junior and one six member 17-21 team (selected at the Team Trials)
One round is to be held each day for 72 rides per day (two day tournament)
There are team overall first place trophies (two) no other awards
Each country (IAC) will select five judges (total 10 judges)
Each country (IAC) will select one driver
Each country (IAC) will select one scorer
The host country (IAC) selects the Chief Judge from among the ten judges
The (IAC), Chief Judge and Canadian IAC will select the Chief Driver and Chief Scorer
The organizer houses and provides lunches for 16 officials
The entry fee of $150.00 per skier ($3600.00) will go directly to the LOC for hosting the event. (for official's housing, boat gas, meal and team trophies (2)
I would ask that you spread the word to any lake owners or clubs that may be interested in hosting this event. We have a deadline of December 31 and then if a site has not been selected, we will pass it to Canada to choose a site.
Please have all interested parties contact
me for more details or to answer any question they may have.
Thanking You in Advance
