Top junior water ski athletes from across the nation have been
selected to the National Junior Water Ski Team and the National
Junior Development Water Ski Team for 2005.
The selections, decided upon by the International Activities
Committee of USA Water Ski, are based upon tournament performances
during the 2004 tournament season.
The teams are comprised of athletes currently competing in
the Boys and Girls (1, 2, and 3) age divisions (16 years old and
younger).
From the
Eastern Region, Alex Lauretano of Morris, Connecticut was
selected to the 2005 National Junior Water Ski Team.
Benjamin Spear of Sterling, Virginia was selected
as an alternate on the 2005 National Junior Water Ski Team and as
a member of the 2005 National Junior Development Water Ski Team.
Jonathan Paulovich of Hewitt, New Jersey was selected
as a member of the 2005 National Junior Development Water Ski Team.
Wyatt Haines of Avon, Connecticut was selected as
a member of the 2005 National Junior Development Water Ski Team.
Members of
the National Junior Water Ski Team are eligible to receive top-level
water ski instruction at a junior development training camp to be
held in the spring. The
camp will feature elite athletes and coaches working individually
with each junior athlete in the slalom, tricks, and jumping events.
Aimed at identifying and producing future elite athletes,
the camps are funded through a grant from the United States Olympic
Committee.
Plans are
currently being made for junior development clinics where members
of the National Junior Development Team will receive water ski instruction
from elite athletes and coaches in the slalom, tricks, and jumping
events.
Congratulations
to the Eastern Region skiers who have been selected as members of
these prestigious teams.
