Finally, I need to plug the Water Skiing Santa Show. In it’s 32nd year, our VA, DC and MD skiers will take to the frigid water of the Potomac River between Alexandria, VA and our Nations Capital. You can see the show on world-wide news coverage at 1pm sharp Christmas Eve.
Blessings to all for a safe and joyous New Year.

Thanks to Richelle and the Rules Committee for putting this together, earlier than our usual timeline. Please be sure to look over the attached document and begin discussing the proposed changes. Submit Your Bid for Eastern Regionals
The 2017 Regional Tournament sprang from a new type of partnership. There was some thinking outside the box by our regional committee. Then there was a region full of dedicated officials and volunteers that stepped up and made it happen.
We can do it again. Maybe at your ski site! The regional partnership model may open up the opportunity to host regionals at some great 3-Event sites that don’t feel they have the man-power to make it happen. The regional tournament is an opportunity for you to showcase your site, allow new people to experience a great event on your turf and to bring new life to your lake.
Please consider submitting a bid for the Regional Championships, or start making plans for the future. We’ll be happy to help you with planning to organize a great event.

This meeting is open to all AWSA members. Come find out what’s new and let your voice be heard. We were able to secure our traditional location for the weekend of January 6th and 7th at the Embassy Suites Valley Forge Hotel, 888 Chesterbrook Blvd, Wayne, PA 19087, (610) 647-6700. This date is consistent with past years. We’ll be sending out another message with all of the details.
A survey was created to collect feedback about Regionals. Click here to complete the survey.
Additionally, feel free to elaborate on any topics below.
A vote was taken at the summer meeting and was roughly equal. Please share your thoughts here about the pros and cons of each.
You will have received 4 notifications of new pages. There is nothing to be alarmed about. My email did not get hacked. It is simply an unanticipated and frustrating conflict with another useful plugin that notifies people of new posts. But when I installed a new plugin that creates a few standard checkout pages, you were all notified without me having the choice or ability to prevent that. Apologies. Ignore.
Heads up, this could actually happen again if I decide to install a different eCommerce plugin. I will attempt to not have you notified, but I’m not sure if I can deactivate the other conflicting plugin without losing all the associated data.
I had to revert back to the invitation code. Any kind of captcha is just being filled out by a huge number of spammers. If you are a USA WaterSki member or affiliate and you attempted to register recently, send me an email and I will provide the invitation code.
Hello fellow waterskiers,
As we approach the season that we all love, I’m passing along a technical note or two.
1. The other day I did an email test from this system. Of 79 registered users and emails sent, 44 were confirmed as received; thank you. Those that were not confirmed (except for one clearly rejected) were indicated by this system as having been accepted by the recipient’s mail server. I am not currently willing to summarize and/or contact those that have not replied–tedious cross referencing, maybe someday. I would assume the emails are in spam folders. Gmail has particularly stiff spam review.
A larger issue may be that we have hundreds of people in the region who are not registered on our website. We have normally reached a larger audience using MailChimp and/or Facebook. I will leave it up to region officials if we want to address this in any way. At minimum, it would be nice to encourage people to register with this site.
I have changed the method of confirming a registration to a math captcha and admin confirmation, removing the invitation code for now.
2. I would like to ask those who are registered to make sure you have used a strong password, and if not, please improve it. Although we have brute-force protection of our admin, a system that will lock someone out after 4 attempts, WordPress sites are being constantly attacked. Usernames are not secret since everyone is considered an author, and some of the usernames such as tgpowell, multitasking and allendbj are being constantly tested. Since I put this system in place, there have been 7452 lockouts.
