Note to EVPs from Tom Danforth about AWSEF Fundraising

I am writing on behalf of the Trustees of American Water Ski Educational Foundation as their Treasurer.

The Foundation is close to completing the museum and the lake, important steps towards the main objectives of preserving our water skiing heritage and legacy, celebrating our champions and introducing our sport to the general public. To achieve this mission, the Foundation has expended a substantial portion of our liquid funds.

It is now time to turn our focus to rebuilding investments that will allow the Foundation to continue and expand upon the following:

• Expanding educational activities including scholarships
• Preserving memorabilia
• Adding the final displays
• Putting the finishing touches on displays under development
• Upgrading and updating displays already in place on a regular basis

An initial step to accomplish these goals is included in the attached flyer.

In addition to the fundraising in the flyer, the Foundation also relies heavily on the contributions it receives. As the end of the year approaches, tax planning may be on your list, and charitable giving may be one of those considerations. Please keep the Foundation in mind as an excellent opportunity to help the Sport we all cherish. Also, don’t forget the huge tax benefit of a gift of appreciated property.

If you would help us out by circulating this, along with the flyer to your Council and members and posting it on your Regional Web Sites, the Foundation would be very appreciative.
