4.1.2 Eligibility for
Eastern Region Records
(Changes approved
·
Regional
records may be set at Class C tournaments sanctioned and held in the Eastern
Region or any sanctioned Class E,L,R tournaments or Record capability
international tournaments.
·
Only
US citizens and "legal" residents of the Eastern Region may set regional
records. Students are not considered
residents of the Eastern Region unless their official home address is in the
Eastern Region
·
Records
may be set in each of the three events, Slalom, Tricks, and Jump, and also in
overall.
·
The
East recognizes Class C records, but also recognizes records set under the more
exacting conditions of a Class R record capability tournament. Therefore, existing records set in a Class R
record capability tournament can not be broken by another higher score obtained
in a Class C tournament. (Class R here
includes E, L or R)
·
Guiding
principle - Class C can not erase a Class R score once the Class R record is
established. For example, in the case that
a Class C record exceeds an existing record obtained in a Class R tournament,
BOTH records, the older Class R and the new Class C record will be recognized.
·
For
a record to be considered and approved, it must tie or exceed the existing
record. If a score is a tie, then both
skiers' scores share the record.
·
The
first time a Class R record is set, it must tie or
exceed the previous Class C record to be considered a valid Class R record.
·
Seven
scenarios may be encountered:
-
First
scenario - if there is only a Class C existing record, and a greater score is
obtained in another Class C tournament, then a new record is set, and the new
Class C score will replace the old Class C record.
-
Second
scenario - there is only a Class C existing record, and a Class R score exceeds
the Class C score, then a new record is set, and the new Class R score will
replace the old record. Note the new Class R score must exceed the old Class C
score to be considered a record if there is no existing Class R record.
-
Third
scenario - if there is only a Class R existing record, and a Class C score
exceeds the Class R score, then BOTH records will be shown.
-
Fourth
scenario - if there is only a Class R record, and a Class R score exceeds the
old Class R score, then a new record is set and shown as Class R.
-
Fifth
scenario - if there is both a Class C
and a Class R record, (as may have occurred in a prior year under the third
scenario), and a Class C score exceeds both records, then a new Class C record
is set, but the old Class R remains. A
Class C score can not erase a score obtained under Class R conditions.
-
Sixth
scenario - if there is both a Class C and a Class R record, and a new Class R
score exceeds the old Class R score, but does not exceed the higher Class C
score, then a new Class R record is set, but the Class C record remains.
-
Seventh
scenario - if there is both a Class C and a Class R record, and a new Class R
score exceeds the old Class R score and also the old Class C score, then a new
record is set and only the new Class R score remains as the record as it
exceeded both the old Class C and Class R scores.
·
Note
that once a record has been set in a Class R tournament, that
division will ALWAYS continue to have a listing under Class R, as Class C can
not replace a Class R score.
4.1.4 Regional Overall Records (Changes approved
·

·
