ATTENTION BOAT DRIVERS & JUDGES:
2006 model year towboats are equipped with Perfect Pass version
6.6 which contains a new display, and menu sequences. A speed
control clinic will be given on Sunday, January 8, 2006, to
demonstrate the new display, features, and menu navigation in
preparation of the 2006 season.
ATTENTION EASTERN REGION
OFFICIALS!
Judges, Scorers, Drivers, Safety Directors, Technical Controllers,
and Announcers are needed for the 2006 Eastern Regionals at Lake
Holly, in Sparta, VA., and the 2006 Nationals at Ski West Village
in Bakersfield, CA.
The Eastern Regionals will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006 through
Sunday, August 6, 2006.
The U.S. Nationals will be held Monday, August 14, 2006 through
Saturday, August 19, 2006.
Anyone who can volunteer to serve as an appointed official at

Eastern Region Junior Development
News
Congratulations to Alex Lauretano, Jon Paulovich, and
Ben Spear for their selection to the National Junior Team
(Alex) and the National Junior Development Team (Jon and Ben).
Help wanted - We have State Coordinators for Junior Development
in several states within our Region, but that is not enough.
It's just too hard in most states for one person or one family
to cover the whole state and coordinate Junior Development activities.
We need more help locally throughout the Region. We want
to identify parents and all other people in the Eastern Region
who are interested in helping our Junior Skiers in one way or
another. If you want to organize a clinic for experienced
skiers, work with new skiers to develop their skills, recruit
Junior Skiers for local tournaments, assist with fund raising
for Junior Development, and/or pitch in wherever help is needed
in the Junior Development arena, then we need your help.

Several people have already expressed interest in hosting Junior
Development clinics during the 2006 skiing season. The National
Junior Development Committee is developing a list of pros /coaches
who may want to participate with these clinics. Watch the AWSA
East Web Site for news about these clinics throughout the summer. Financial
assistance is available to clinic organizers to help with the
costs of organizing clinics.
We’ve built a Junior Development Contact Data Base with
e-mail addresses for Junior Skiers and their parents. We
will use this data base to send messages and newsletters to Junior
Skiers and their families throughout the year. If you are
not already on the list, please send your e-mail address to HutchAaron@aol.com.
Emails have already been sent out. If you haven’t received any,
you’re probably not on the list.
Participation on the Regional and National level has become alarmingly
low. Several junior events at the Regionals and Nationals had
no representation from the East. We are strongly encouraging tournament
sites to offer incentives for Junior Skiers to participate
during 2006. Discounted entry fees will enable Junior
Skiers to enter tournaments at very affordable rates. Some sites
have agreed to discounts and even free entries for first timers....
The stronger junior base we have, the stronger sport we have.
We are looking forward to seeing many Junior Skiers at the 2006
Eastern Regionals in July. Ski in local tournaments to achieve
qualifying scores and plan to attend the Regional Tournament this
year.
Fund Raising is a necessary part of the Junior Development Program.
Last years’ fundraising was just enough to sponsor our junior
development team. We will need to improve in order assist with
various clinics throughout the summer. If you want to help
with Fund Raising efforts or want to contribute to the cause,
